By December 10, 2010 (for grants in performing arts and visual arts)
Before undertaking a Creative Work Fund project, artists and organizations should agree to shared responsibilities, copyright assignment, distribution rights, and royalty payments for the new work. Key participants in each selected project must prepare and sign a memorandum of understanding. Grants are paid to the collaborating 501(c)(3) organizations as soon as signed paperwork is received. The Memorandum of Understanding must be received by early December.
2011-2012 (for grants awarded in 2010)
Most Creative Work Fund projects should be completed within two years but projects of longer duration will be considered.
Final Reports
Final reports are due three months after the projected project ending date. Grantees must submit two final reports (one prepared by the artist and one by the organization) describing the project and how they used the grant funds. Final reports should document the finished projects through DVDs, videotapes, CDs, audiotapes, slides, publications, CD-ROMs, or other appropriate media.
2010-2011 Grantmaking Cycle:
December 2010 (for grants in literary arts and traditional arts)
The Creative Work Fund will announce a new deadline for letters of inquiry featuring collaborations with literary artists or traditional artists. These grants will be awarded in fall 2011.
Application Seminars:
Optional application seminars and Webinars for potential Creative Work Fund applicants will be offered in late 2010 and early 2011.
Applicants are not required to attend a seminar, but are encouraged to do so—especially if they are unfamiliar with the Fund—and seminars fill quickly. To accommodate more people, we are adding Webinars to our offerings for applicants in 2010-11. When dates are announced, you may reserve a space on line or call 415-402-2794 to reserve a place.
